Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire brought decades of timeless hits to State Farm Arena on Sunday night, proving that great music doesn’t age. Earth, Wind & Fire set the tone early with an energetic performance that had the arena hitting 70s dance moves almost immediately. Classics like “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” and “Let’s Groove” turned the crowd into one massive singalong, with the band’s signature horns, harmonies, and musicianship sounding as tight as ever.
Lionel Richie followed with a career-spanning set that felt less like a concert and more like a celebration. Moving smoothly between ballads and upbeat anthems, Richie had fans singing every word to favorites including “Hello,” “Easy,” “Stuck on You,” “Brick House,” “Three Times a Lady,” “Dancing on the Ceiling,” and the night’s emotional finale, “All Night Long.” At 77, Richie showed why he’s remained one of music’s most beloved entertainers, balancing humor, storytelling, and genuine appreciation for the audience throughout the night. The Atlanta stop came after Richie returned from a brief health scare earlier in the tour, but he made sure everyone laughed it off, literally. His favorite word of the evening: Electrolytes
Together, the two legendary acts delivered exactly what fans came for, a night built on nostalgia, incredible musical talent, and hit after hit infused with every bit of “disco never dies” vibes. It was the kind of show that reminded everyone why these songs have lasted for generations, leaving the crowd dancing and singing long after the lights came up.
