There was a quiet hum across Germania Insurance Amphitheater on September 19 that felt different from a usual Friday night in Austin. Fans were not just waiting for music but for communion, the kind of emotional release Above & Beyond have become known for over their two decades at the forefront of electronic music.

The journey began with Berlin based producer Rezident who opened with a moody and atmospheric set that set the tone. Qrion and Spencer Brown followed with a back to back that felt playful yet hypnotic, their melodies building into layered rhythms that had the crowd swaying in unison. By the time the house lights dropped the amphitheater was already humming with anticipation.

When Jono, Tony and Paavo finally appeared there was a collective roar that made the space feel less like a venue and more like a gathering of old friends. “Stepping In” opened the set with patience before Richard Bedford’s unmistakable voice lit up “Start A Fire” and “Alone Tonight.” The energy swelled through “Carry Me Home” and “Good For Me,” with Zoë Johnston’s vocals cutting deep into the night air.

Everywhere you looked there were reminders this was more than a concert. Fans held up “Push the Button” signs, some revealed tattoos of the trio’s logo, others wore shimmering costumes while whole sections shouted “Anjunafamily” as if they had all known each other for years. The crowd felt woven together by something invisible yet undeniable.

When the screen lit up with “You are all we need,” thousands of arms rose into the night. It felt like a truth being spoken aloud. Moments later “Sun & Moon” broke open the amphitheater and Bedford’s voice carried through the night as friends clutched each other and strangers smiled with tears in their eyes.

As the final notes drifted away the LED screen flashed messages of gratitude. “Thank you Austin for a beautiful evening. Thank you for singing. Thank you for dancing. Thank you for crying. Life is made of small moments like this.” The words lingered long after the trio left the stage, leaving Austin with the memory of a night where music, connection and emotion felt inseparable.
