A late summer sun hung over Circuit of the Americas as Germania Insurance Amphitheater filled with eager fans. Clutching drinks, concertgoers crowded the pit early, buzzing with anticipation for a lineup spanning decades of pop punk and punk rock classics.
New Found Glory took the stage at 6:30 pm sharp, opening powerfully with “Understatement.” The pit immediately came alive as Jordan Pundik leaned toward the crowd with a grin, shouting, “This is a bad day to wear pants.” Between songs, he launched t-shirts into the stands, asking, “Who here likes free shirts?” He also made sure Austin showed support for their guitarist Chad Gilbert, who was battling cancer back in Nashville. “Austin, Texas, can you make some noise for Chad please?” he urged, and a thunderous roar filled the amphitheater. They wrapped up their energetic half-hour set with “My Friends Over You,” as Jordan held up a yellow foam hand and called out “Austin Texas thank you!” while the crowd enthusiastically shouted the chorus back to the band.
Jimmy Eat World took the stage at 7:19 pm, opening with “Pain” as Jim Adkins greeted the crowd: “We’re Jimmy Eat World from Arizona, how y’all doing?” Midway through their set, he smiled and announced, “We’re gonna take it back to 1999,” before launching into “Bleed American.” Looking around the packed amphitheater, Jim reminisced, “We’ve had so many good times here, starting back in ’96 when we first played outside of Arizona. It’s been such a great ride.” This personal moment set up their newer track “Something Loud,” demonstrating the band’s continued evolution. When they reached “Sweetness,” Jim challenged the audience, “One more time for us, come on,” and the response was so powerful it shook the grandstands. They closed with “The Middle,” sending thousands of fans bouncing in unison with arms draped over strangers’ shoulders.
At 8:30 pm, The Offspring hit the stage with two towering inflatable skulls glowing in time to “Come Out and Play.” The pit erupted again, confetti blasted out, and the moshing didn’t stop through “All I Want” and “Bad Habit.” Dexter Holland and Noodles stopped often to hype the crowd, Noodles laughing that Austin was making them feel “like the biggest band in the world,” adding it was either the best show yet or just the secondhand smoke. They teased the size of the crowd too, joking, “It’s a world record, one million three hundred fifteen thousand people here tonight — wait, two just left, no longer a record.”
Amid the chaos emerged moments of genuine emotion. Before “Gone Away,” Dexter sat at the piano and shared with Austin, “I wrote this song while struggling with loss, and I truly believe that music heals. I’d like to see the lights on your phones and share this moment together.” The amphitheater transformed into a sea of stars as he played. Shortly after, inflatable wavy arms and beach balls bounced through the crowd during “Pretty Fly for a White Guy” and “Why Don’t You Get a Job,” lightening the mood. The main set concluded with the powerful release of “The Kids Aren’t Alright.”
The encore kicked off with “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid” followed by “Self Esteem,” with Dexter thanking Austin and declaring it the best night of the tour. The show concluded at 10 pm as “Sweet Caroline” played through the speakers, prompting a final collective singalong as fans made their way to the exits.
From New Found Glory’s heartfelt shoutout to Chad and Jimmy Eat World’s nostalgic reflections to The Offspring’s blend of humor and sincerity, the SUPERCHARGED Worldwide in ’25 stop at Germania was more than just a greatest-hits showcase. It served as a powerful reminder that while the songs we grew up with still resonate deeply, it’s those moments between the music, the jokes, tributes, and spontaneous singalongs that truly make a concert unforgettable.
