Wiz Khalifa lit up Ace of Spades in Sacramento on Monday night, marking the release of his new album Kush + Orange Juice 2, almost exactly 15 years after the original Kush & Orange Juice dropped and changed the mixtape game. The sequel isn’t just a new project, it’s a time capsule, a celebration of everything that’s evolved since those hazy nights in 2010: late-night drives, house parties, and the younger version of yourself that grew up with Wiz in the background.

Khalifa opened his set with a nod to the fresh album, kicking things off with “What’s Hannin” and “5 Star.” The energy in the room had a warm, nostalgic buzz to it, like muscle memory for anyone who ever learned to pack a bowl or roll a blunt to the soundtrack of Wiz’s smooth, laid-back flow. The dreamy production and his signature auto-tuned cool reminded the crowd exactly why they fell in love with his music in the first place, because it never tried too hard, and it always hit just right.

Khalifa wore all black everything with his shorts, shirt, bandana, and shades. There were tons of screams from the crowd as Khalifa smiled and enjoyed the moments. What makes a Wiz Khalifa show in 2025 so unique is how clearly you can see his growth. He’s still the weed-loving, hit-making rapper from Pittsburgh, but now there’s a calm confidence behind every “Taylor Gang” chant, every smile between verses, every joint passed around the stage. He’s not just a rap icon, he’s a cannabis advocate, a cultural figure who’s matured alongside his fans.

Throughout the night, he seamlessly blended fan favorites with new tracks, keeping the crowd fully locked in between bars. DJ Bonics held it down behind the decks, while the visuals lit up the backdrop with trippy transitions that matched the vibe of every track. Later on, Khalifa’s crew threw blunt shaped balloons to the crowd, which is a unique act he’s been doing for many years. Khalifa has never aimed to be the flashiest rapper out, just someone whose music feels like home when you’re lighting up and in California, that’s always going to be worth celebrating.

He closed the sold-out show with a shoutout to his fans and a triumphant performance of “Wild, Young, Free” followed by “Black and Yellow,” sending everyone out on a high, in every sense of the word.
