On the evening of June 25th, 2023, The Masonic in San Francisco was filled with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited a night of exceptional performances by Logic and the supporting act, Juicy J. The atmosphere was electric, and the stage was set for an unforgettable evening of music.

Juicy J took the stage promptly at 8:35 pm, captivating the audience with his energetic presence. Sporting a mask and glasses throughout his set, he engaged with the crowd, expressing his love for San Francisco and its reputation for the best weed. His performance lasted around 50 minutes, during which he delivered an energetic and interactive set that left the audience craving more.

At 9:25 pm, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived as Logic, born Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, graced the stage. Dressed in a black T-shirt, pants, a baseball cap, his signature wireframe glasses, and a gold medallion necklace, he immediately immersed the audience in his world. The stage was cleverly designed to resemble his childhood basement, adorned with Wu-Tang Clan and “Kill Bill” posters, steps, and various pieces of furniture, including a well-worn couch, armchair, and lawn chair. The ambiance was further enhanced by flashing lights behind blinds, creating an authentic basement atmosphere.

The journey through Logic’s catalog began with the opening track, “Wake Up.” He promised to take the attendees on a chronological journey through his music, and he delivered. Hits like “Lightsabers,” “I’m Gone,” and “Metropolis” followed in rapid succession, keeping the crowd engaged and energized.

Logic continued his retrospective with powerful performances of “Under Pressure,” “Gang Related,” and “Contact.” The audience erupted with excitement as the first few notes of “Fade Away” filled the venue. The artist then showcased his DJ skills, taking a seat behind the turntable for “Upgrade.” After a brief break, he reemerged in a vibrant red jumpsuit and a blue ball cap, ready to continue the unforgettable experience.

During a reflective moment, Logic shared how his early songwriting differed from that of his peers. He expressed, “Most rappers would rap about guns and gangs, while I was rapping about video games and space.” This introspection led to captivating performances of “I Am the Greatest,” “Run It,” and “Flexicution.”

Returning to his iconic all-black attire, Logic took a moment to express gratitude for special guests in attendance, including his wife’s aunt and uncle, as well as several cousins. He then delved into a discussion about his first major hit, “1-800-273-8255,” which is named after the previous number of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. He reassured the audience that he was not tired of the song, demonstrating his continued dedication to its important message.

Interacting with the crowd, Logic read a few signs and selected one that requested three songs: “Lemondrops,” “Nikki,” and “Supermarket.” Although he admitted he wasn’t prepared for any of them, he enthusiastically jumped behind the DJ booth to give it his best. Amidst the excitement, rapper T-Man joined him on stage for a quick collaboration before Logic continued with “Overnight,” “44 More,” and his collaboration with Marshmallow, “Midnight” from the Bobby Tarantino mixtape. The setlist further showcased his versatility, with a medley of “Nikki,” “Slave,” and “Boomtrap Protocol.”

Logic acknowledged that he had exceeded the allotted time, knowingly sharing that he would incur a penalty of $25,000 for every additional five minutes on stage. However, driven by his passion for the music and his fans, Logic persevered, delivering an electrifying performance of “Homicide,” his acclaimed collaboration with Eminem. The energy in the venue reached its peak as he continued to captivate the crowd with a selection of fan-favorite tracks, including “Keanu Reeves,” “Bohemian Trapsody,” and “Peace, Love and Positivity.” As the night neared its conclusion, Logic and his team generously threw out merchandise to the ecstatic audience, adding an extra level of excitement and engagement. Finally, just before 11 p.m., the unforgettable evening drew to a close with a powerful rendition of “The Incredible True Story,” leaving the crowd in awe and marking the end of a truly remarkable night of music.
