This past weekend on Saturday, RIP Michaels hosted an event that I believe was never done before. The promoter combined comedy stand up and concerts into one event. Guess what? the Bay Area completely sold out chase center for show Fall Back in Love Comedy & Music Jam. At first the plaza did start off slow with very little people in line to go in but by the time the first comedian started, the arena started to fill up.

The Fall Back in Love Comedy & Music Jam has an impressive music lineup, including R&B sensations Trey Songz, Mario, Jacquees, Lil Duval, and August Alsina. Rip Micheals, who will be accompanied on stage by a lineup of top comedians, including Emmanuel Hudson, Conceited, Zoie Fenty aka GotDamnZo, Daphnique Springs, and Brandon T. Jackson. Providing the beats for the evening is renowned DJ Envy. Although the event was included with huge line up, each act had a limited time on stage to get to everyone on time.

At 8:30 PM, the event started with comedian Daphnique Springs, who had a brief 5-minute act. During her performance, Daphnique expressed her preference for men with dad bods rather than muscular ones in cold weather. Her jokes reminded me of SZA’s comedy skit in “Big Boy.” Daphnique also questioned if women should make the first move in today’s dating scene and shared a personal story of mistakenly hitting on a family relative.

Next up was host RIP Michaels, who played Bay Area music to get the crowd pumped up in San Francisco. He explained that the reason behind the tour was to disprove the notion that comedy and R&B music were dead. He played throwback R&B songs like “When I See You” by Fantasia and “Poison” by Bell Biv Devoe.

Zoie Fenty, also known as GotDamnZo, was the second comedian to hit the stage. He made a grand entrance by dancing and waving to the audience. Zoie joked about the weird facial expressions men make due to his sexuality and poked fun at their lack of attractiveness. He also joked about how he could still attract women if he wanted to.

Third comedian, Emmanuel Hudson, was a crowd favorite, having gained popularity from TV series Wild n Out. During his set, he made jokes about the audience’s seating arrangements and connected with them by shouting out birth years. He ended his act by rapping with the audience to prepare them for the first R&B artist.

August Alsina, the first R&B artist, dazzled the audience with his bling and performed all his hits, including “Numb,” “Do You Mind,” “Right There,” and “I Luv This Sh*t.” Throughout his set, he slowly stripped down to his bare chest, driving the ladies wild. August also brought out another artist named Zu.

Comedians Conceited and RIP Michaels battled each other with the popular game from Wild n Out called “Pick Up and Kill it.” What stood out was Conceited’s clever rhyming of “Mac Dre” and “the Bay,” which made the audience dance in their seats.

The second R&B artist, Jacquees, also made a grand entrance, showing off his dance moves during his hit song “B.E.D.” Brandon T. Jackson, known for his roles in movies like “Lottery Ticket” and “Percy Jackson,” hyped up the audience with his jokes before passing the stage to the next R&B artist.

The next R&B artist truly interacted with the crowd, taking selfie videos from different angles and handing out roses while performing his hits, such as “How Do I Breathe,” “Let Me Love You,” and “Just a Friend.”

Final comedian Lil Duval expressed his gratitude to God for helping him recover from a paralysis a few months ago. He brought out an artist on stage and danced away to show that he could move perfectly fine.

The final R&B artists to close out the tour were Monica and Trey Songz. Monica’s music had the audience reminiscing about old times, while Trey Songz’s performance had the arena going wild with hits like “NaNa,” “Neighbors Know My Name,” “Bottoms Up,” and “Say Aah.” The audience couldn’t get enough of the popular R&B singer.
