On Saturday evening, Big Time Rush headed down Concord Pavilion in Concord, CA for their last show to close out their US tour. Before I go into writing, I just have to say that I was stoked to covering Big Time Rush because I’ve been a fan of the band since I was a kid watching their television show that was also called ‘Big Time Rush’.

The show kicked off with the first act of artist name Spencer Sutherland, who joined on the second half of the Forever Tour replacing Dixie D’Amelio. Although the American Pop and R&B singer didn’t have a full set performance, he still found a way to pump up the audience.

While performing one of his songs, Big Time Rush members made a surprise appearance on stage and dumped a bucket full of confetti on him in celebration of helping the band close out their last US show. They all shared a shot of, which seemed to be, alcohol and Big Time Rush members continued to tell the audience how grateful they were for Spencer Sutherland to join the tour. As they left the stage, Spencer asked the audience who were “Hannah Montana” fans and I believe the whole amphitheater shouted back they all were. Before performing the next song, he said “just to let you guys know, this is not going to be a Hannah Montana song.” However, the artist got them off guard when he started singing into the chorus. That’s when the audience noticed that it was “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and joined the artist. He then closed out with song titled “Sweater”.

As the stage was getting put together for the main headliner, fans got to enjoy a nice colorful curtain with text “Big Time Rush Forever Tour”. Luckily, It didn’t take too long until the show started. As the lights dimmed down, the audience started shouting “BTR”. Just in a matter of seconds, the huge curtain dropped down and you were able to see the band members silhouettes.

The band members jumped off a podium to on stage performing the opening song “Windows Down”. Throughout the first song it was such a rush, literally. Each of them were going across the stage doing their own thing. Carlos PenaVega and Logan Henderson were upfront grabbing hands of the audience showing great engagement, Kendall Schmidt was pacing back and forth, and James Maslow did his signature backflip and showed off a smile. As BTR was closing out the first act of show, each member grabbed a rolled up tee shirts and were tossing them into the crowd.

To start off the second act, BTR announced that they have released a new and first Spanish song titled “Dale Pa’ Ya” and wanted to perform it live for the first time. To make it more special, they have decided to grab a couple of fans to the stage and perform the dance moves to the song. They even showed the fans how to do the dance before letting the song play. After that, all members pulled up a chair and James Moslow started playing the keyboard while taking questions from fans. The one that stood out was “What are your guys inspiration?”. Carlos PenaVega answered for everyone in the group saying “Every one of you guys are our inspiration. You guys make us want to make release new music and allow us to express ourselves.” BTR closed out with “Confetti Falling” with confetti shooting into the crowd and Logan Henderson smashing the drums with water on them making a cool effect.

The end of the second act of the show was more of a slow part of the set. Before performing “Worldwide”, four lucky fans were picked by each member to be their “World Wide Girl”. What made this part of the show special was that James Maslow chose a fan from the lawn seats than picking an easy one with a ton of signs in the floor level.

Things then started to pick up as they started the third act by performing ‘Time of Our Life’. What was really cool about this part was Logan, Kendall, James, and Carlos went to different parts of the amphitheater to party with the audience. It got to the point where people from the lawn seats started running down to the lower level so they had the chance to take a picture with one of them as they were singing. BTR continued to keep the audience engaged by going back on stage during “If I Ruled The World” and kicking a couple of beach balls into the lower level. Spencer Sutherland came back on stage to help out with kicking the beach balls as well!

To close out the final moments of the Forever Tour, Kendall Schmidt brought a boom box and stated he got it from the thrift store in hoping it still works. Kendall told the fans that it would only play “Big Time Rush Classics” and everyone shouted with excitement. The final moments concluded with songs “Big Time” and “Boyfriend” with a bunch of confetti shooting out of a cannon.

I was honestly blown away on how packed the amphitheater was even with Big Time Rush not performing live in a long time. Through the entire show, BTR knew how to keep the audience in a rush for more!
