The man, the myth, the legend Daddy Yankee stopped by at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA as part of his tour ‘La Última Vuelta World Tour’, which is presented by CMN Events & El Cartel Records, and in support his latest album ‘Legendaddy’. Unfortunately, this will be the last time we will see him perform live on stage. On March 20th, 2022 Daddy Yankee announced with a video posted of via Instagram “Today, I am announcing my retirement from music by giving you my best production and concert tour”. In total, Daddy Yankee has about 90 shows to perform so he is going out with a bang!

Before the start of the show at Golden 1 Center, there was a pre concert performed by Sacramento artist of the year, Carlos Kandia to get the crowd pumped up for the main act. The whole plaza was full of people dancing, buying merchandise, and getting ready for the doors to open.

The show kicked off with a 5 minute timer to let the audience know when Daddy Yankee was coming on stage. Once the timer hit 0, the audience were roaring and cell phones went up in the air. There was a large screen display that had a animation of an airplane landing. As it landed, that’s when the dancers started coming out on stage and seconds later the artist started to rap.

The opening song ‘Campeón’ which translates to ‘Champion’ went on, Daddy Yankee slowly started to come out from the side of the airplane visual and starts performing, which seems to be, behind a cage with a single light aiming at him. What was really unique about this show in particular is that the venue, Golden 1 Center, gifted the artist a personalized robe with the colors purple, silver, black. The outfit also had sparkling attachments and the artist performed on stage with it for about the first 4 songs.

The artist tied in tropical/island themed vibes in his stage screen as well as a neighborhood in Puerto Rico to make a connection with his audience. He also has props on stage that his dancers would often use to give his fans a visual 3D performance that went along with each song. His visual aids such as Flashing lights, laser beams, and confetti that would aim towards the crowd for a party feel.

In between songs, Daddy Yankee gave his appreciation towards his fans who always believed in him since the beginning of his era. He also informed us how since as a kid he knew he was made to do big things starting from the bottom to then rise to the highest ceiling. At this heart felt information, many of his fans teared with him as he teared speaking about his retirement but grateful for his fandom that grew over the pass two decades.

Daddy Yankee ended the show with the most popular song that I’m pretty sure everyone has heard of, Gasolina. The stage went into a red color theme and had flames shooting out into an X shape, vertically, and had sparks coming out. As the song concluded, the artist and his dancers lined up to give out his last appreciation to the audience for coming out to support him on this last tour and past two decades. The whole arena went crazy as they new that was going to be the last one to end the night. As he told everyone to have a good night, a loud explosive went out and confetti was filling the floor area.

This show was full of happiness, appreciation, and celebration for the Latino community. Daddy Yankee is definitely going down in Latin history as a Legend, or as they call it today, the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) especially with his 39 song setlist.
