A Kandia Entertainment live show is an incredible experience, one that I was not prepared for when going to the Golden 1 Center plaza. I was walking around the plaza because that day was when Golden 1 Center opened back up for concerts again and I did not want to miss the excitement. The artist that was performing in Golden 1 Center was Maluma. When I got to the front of the arena, I noticed a few people were setting up their music equipment on the balcony which included laptop, microphones, speakers, and bongo drums. I was thinking to myself, “Who are these people?”, until they finally put up their band name flap up which was titled “Kandia Entertainment”. It was the first time I have heard of them. Once it hit about 6pm, they started performing. Turns out, Kandia Entertainment is well known in Sacramento area! They are a latin group that performs a bunch of covers to famous songs and even music written by themselves. The members in the group are Carlos Kandia, Yacko Marquez, and Gelo Arango.
Carlos Kandia started off the pre concert by playing the bongo drums and performing song covers. The downside for me when I was observing this show, is that most of their music is in spanish. Unfortunately, I do not speak nor understand spanish as much as I should. However, that does not stop me from listening! The energy the band members had was unbelievable. This was the first time I’ve seen a small band get engaged with the audience! Carlos, Yacko, and Gelo interacted with the crowd by walking around the balcony, dancing, holding the microphone out to let others sing with them. I am telling you, they had the whole plaza packed and dancing with them.
Kandia Entertainment takes pride on what they do and delivered an amazing performance! They only performed for about a good hour before doors opened for the Maluma show. Even though I was in aw, I knew I had to get direct contact with them so I can observe future shows.
